biosafety cabinets for all levels of CDC & WHO designated biosafety labs.

At OnePointe Solutions, we manufacture, sell, and install biosafety cabinets for all level of CDC and WHO designated biosafety labs. Working closely with our clients, we help them select the perfect configuration, materials, and accessories for their unique needs, and custom build biosafety cabinets to match their specifications.

BIOSAFETY CABINETS

For all biosafety labs, we provide the same service, working closely with every Biosafety Level (BSL)  to choose solutions that help maintain lab cleanliness and material safe handling. Whether you need a set of biosafety cabinets, or an entire biosafety lab built out, we can be your sole laboratory planning and construction partner.

There are 4 main types of biological safety enclosure found in modern laboratories:

Clean benches

class I BSC

class II BSC

class III BSC

All of our laminar flow cabinets and biosafety cabinets are manufactured in America, and are subject to the full range of testing required for compliant biosafety equipment. We are a member of SEFA, and have all of our stainless steel manufactured in house and approved by NSF standards.

Our range of lab cabinets include acid storage, flammable cabinets, chemical storage, biosafety equipment, and state of the art instrumentation and fume extraction equipment. In addition to BSL furniture, we also manufacture and install standard lab casework, lab benches, and a wide range of lab furniture options.

BIOSAFETY CABINET MATERIALS

With OnePointe Solutions, you have the option to customize every inch of your biosafety cabinets, from material to color and shape. Once you decide on your ideal configuration, we will help you choose the perfect biosafety casework material for your specific application.

In biosafety labs, biosafety storage that is resistant to chemicals, heat, water, and bacterial buildup is most important. Surfaces should be smooth, non-porous, seamless, and hardy to regular cleanings and exposure to disinfectants.

Some of the worksurface materials we offer at OnePointe Solutions for laminar flow and airflow cabinets include:

Epoxy Resin

Epoxy resin is the ideal solution for environments that have high possibilities of corrosion or moisture.

phenolic resin

Phenolic resin meets the requirements of most laboratories with the added benefit of being chemical-, wear-, and water-resistant.

stainless steel

As a nonporous surface, nothing can penetrate into this material. Bacteria, mold, and other common germs don’t stand a chance.

Biosafety Cabinets vs. Fume Hoods

Biosafety Cabinet

Biosafety hoods (or biosafety cabinets) are used to contain biological agents and prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses, like the coronavirus/COVID-19. Biosafety hoods use high-efficiency particulate air filters to clean and purify the air, then vent clean air back into the working environment to ensure the health and safety of lab personnel.

Air entering the cabinet is also filtered to maintain a sterile workflow, protecting the sample being handled. In biosafety laboratories level 2-4, biosafety hoods serve as the primary containment equipment for infectious pathogens and toxins. While these cabinets are a must in BSL 4, they are required in all laboratories working with infectious pathogens.

Fume Hood

Fume hoods provide localized filtration/ventilation and are designed to remove potentially hazardous or harmful fumes, vapors, and droplets away from lab personnel. Research, manufacturing, and medical labs handle a vast range of corrosive chemicals, biological/viral agents, materials that may cause respiratory irritation, and substances with highly flammable fumes.

Fume hoods allow researchers and lab personnel to handle these materials without the risk of inhaling toxic fumes or exposing themselves and the facility to infectious/viral contamination.

Additonal Information

Regardless of which biosafety level your lab belongs to, ease of decontaminating surfaces and lab benches is critical. Carpets and soft curtains are not permitted in laboratories due to their tendency to collect and hold pathogens and biological agents.

Nonporous seamless materials on surfaces enable effective disinfection and cleanup in the event of a biological or chemical spill. Similarly, choosing the wrong surface for workspaces in a laboratory can result in the collection of hazardous contaminants and biological agents.

There are a variety of laboratory equipment that provide workspaces tailored for the specific handling requirement of the sample: laminar hood, laminar flow bench, clean room bench, BSC flow hood. If any of these are specified by companies like Erlab or Labconco, we can supply and install this equipment from your specified manufacturer.

In a biosafety lab setting, you need equipment and fixtures that are resistant to heat, organic compounds, acids, and so on. Wood, laminate, and similar porous materials provide plenty of space for harmful pathogens to take up residence, and make the job of decontaminating lab surfaces near impossible.

Regardless of which biosafety level your lab belongs to, we can provide quality service to you, working closely with every level of BSL to choose solutions that help maintain lab cleanliness and material safe handling. Whether you need a set of biosafety cabinets or an entire biosafety lab built out, we can be your sole laboratory planning and construction partner.
