Office space in Austin has recently been vacated by a company taking its expansion plans 19 miles eastbound on U.S. Highway 290.
OnePointe Solutions LLC was founded in Austin in 2007, but the company’s next growth spurt will occur at its relocated headquarters in nearby Elgin. The company makes tables and cabinetry for scientific, industrial, and commercial businesses and orgnaizations has already relocated its 60 employees from 8801 Wall St. in Austin to a new 50,000-square-foot facility on six acres in the neighboring town.
The city of Elgin was “heavily involved” in the relocation of OnePointe Solutions from Austin, according to Economic Development Director Owen Rock. Elgin entered into a Chapter 380 performance-based contract with OnePointe, offering a package of incentives that included $50,000 for the relocation. When the company reached 50 employees with a median salary of $40,000, they earned another $50,000. OnePointe can receive an additional $200,000 from Elgin over a four-year period by reaching more employee benchmarks. The company plans to add 50 jobs by the end of 2018 to reach about 110.
Rock said the incentive package was offered because Elgin liked the financial stability and growth trajectory of OnePointe Solutions. The hope is that Elgin and OnePointe can grow together.
“We want to bring them in when they’re small and then help them grow in our community,” he said.
The move wasn’t all about the money. A OnePointe spokesman said the new space is larger, will accommodate new machinery and will set the stage for expansion.
“Our customized solutions are generating an enthusiastic response across the U.S. and in Canada,” said President and CEO Aaron Boto in a statement. “OnePointe is poised for growth and seeking to tap talent from the local workforce.”
Indeed, OnePointe Solutions lists 10 openings on its jobs board. The available positions include a brake press operator, inside sales rep, welder, computer programmer, punch press operator, design specialist, installer, shipping/receiving associate and two finishers.
Vice President of Sales Roy Richards said through a spokesman that OnePointe Solutions didn’t lose a single employee during the transition.
